Beach Bums edge Freedom, 7-4
Freedom get swept by Beach Bums; lose fourth straight game
Florence traveled to Traverse City and swept the Beach Bums in late July, and the Beach Bums returned the favor on Sunday night. Traverse City defeated the Freedom 7-4 to complete a three game sweep of the Freedom. Drew Taylor picked up his first win of the season and the Beach Bums put up two separate three-run innings on way to a big win. Florence struck first in the bottom of the first inning. Garth McKinney reached on an error and Angel Molina hit a two run homer to give the Freedom their first lead of the series. The lead would not last long, as Traverse City scored three runs in the next half inning. Reed Welker hit a three run double which scored Patrick Perry, Eric Newton and Mike Epping. Traverse City took a 3-2 lead and would not trail again, winning by a final score of 7-4. Angel Molina provided the offense for the Freedom. Molina hit two homers and drove in all four Freedom runs. Florence falls to one game under .500 at 40-41. The Freedom are three back of Traverse City for the final playoff berth with fifteen games remaining on their schedule.
